Electricians tasked with installing energy-saving measures for the home have been given a helping hand following the launch of a new range of consumer-friendly smart sockets.
The sockets can save up to 30% on your annual electricity by reducing energy consumption, according to Crystal Acoustics.
With either a one or five-socket option, the product reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 200kg per year by overriding the standby function on an electronic device and turning it off. The device is automatically powered back up by pressing a button on its remote control.
The sockets have a built-in load-learning function that recognises the standby power level of the connected devices, and then cuts off power to them automatically when they fall into standby mode.
The multi-socket energy savers all feature a single 'always on' socket for connecting devices which must always remain powered up.
